Counselling

What is the benefit of counselling?

Sometimes we can get stuck or lost in life and feel conflicted or unsure how to proceed. On these occasions it can be beneficial to seek out a caring but neutral professional; someone who is not in our life in other ways, but who can be present with consistency to support us, talk things through and to enable us to understand ourselves better.

Sometimes also we can get overwhelmed by anxiety or low mood or can struggle with traumas from the past or experience difficulties in our present relationships which feel insurmountable. Turning to a trained professional at these times can make us feel that we are actively doing something to help ourselves. We gain some structure and a sense of control back by confiding in someone who can accompany us on the road back to a greater sense of well-being.

I treat everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion and will work hard to adapt what skills and tools I offer to meet a person's unique and specific needs. I offer this to others as I have turned to counselling myself on several occasions to deal with life difficulties and have always benefited from the experience. It is a brave and positive step to reach out to get support for your mental health, and I always feel humbled and delighted to be able to accompany someone in that venture.
